Getting ready for the new year...
I hope everyone is enjoying the last day of 2006. I for one am glad to see it go. There have been a lot of sad things that happened this year and I'm looking forward to new and better things to happen in 2007.
I think my cold is finally starting to break up. My head isn't nearly as stuffed as it had been and I have a bit of energy today. I've been up and out to the grocers to pick up the cat food that I forgot yesterday (you're welcome babies) and come cream cheese icing to go on the brownies I'm going to make later. I've also cleaned the litter boxes, swept the floors in the entire house and finished washing dishes.
I'm getting ready to get something to eat and then plop myself in front of the tv for the Steelers football game and the UNC Tarheels basketball game. I'm hoping they will both win. :-)
While watching the games I plan to pay bills and play with my camera. I haven't loaded the software yet so that I can copy the pictures off the camera. I had been debating whether or not to load it on my laptop or desktop PC, but I've decided to go with the laptop. I can always loaded it on my desktop when I get that PC reset up.
I'm also thinking of knitting a small scarf before the knitting class starts. I have several beautiful yarns I could use and that would give me more practice on just knitting, plus, I'm just in the mood. Class doesn't begin for another week, so I could probably get it done in time. :-)
Well, I'm off to get food and get ready for the games. I hope to post some pictures later from my new camera.
Blessings,

Change is a good thing...
I'm trying out this new template. I found it a while back and have really loved it but am just not sure if it is for me. At least, not for the theme of this blog. I'll have to test it and tinker with it for a little bit to see what I think.
I'm still sick. I finally went to the doctor this morning. I have a head cold (I could have told them that!) and it is settled in very well. The right side of my head is completely clogged up. The doctor gave me two nasal sprays, some pills and some liquid medicine to take. Ugh... I hate feeling like this, especially on my days off.
I was able to get some errands done today though. I made it to the yarn shop where I'll be taking knitting classes to pick out my pattern and get the supplies. I'll post more on that later. I also went to the grocers to get supplies for my traditional new years meal. I always stay home on New Years Day and fix a traditional southern meal of ham, collards, black eyed peas and cornbread. I had wanted to go today because they are calling for rain and storms for the next few days and with this cold I don't need to be out in the weather. However, I did forget one thing that I desperately need... cat food! I have just enough to feed them in the morning and then I'll have to go out tomorrow to get more.
I was also able to get a little bit of cleaning done and also some laundry. Not much mind you, but a little. I feel better having done something since the last few days have been spent doing nothing.
Well, I'm off to play with my design and see if I can make this look the way I want. There may be some other changes coming to the blog...maybe.

I hate being sick...
I still feel horrible today and I absolutely hate being sick. I can't breathe, have to blow my nose every few minutes and can't stop coughing. My mum is going to be in the area this afternoon and will bring me some medicine and juice. The stuff I've been taking isn't helping at all. I ended up staying home from work as I just couldn't pluck up the energy to go in.
I'm thinking about changing my blog template. I have found one that I like, but I'm not sure it suits the theme of my blog. Maybe I'll change that too. I just don't know, maybe a mind full of woozieness is not a good time to make decisions! :-)
Anywho, back to HP and the Goblet of Fire (for about the 20th time) and my kleenex...

Sickly Witch
It finally happened. My fall cold finally came in and it came with a vengeance. I am sick. I have a horribly sore throat and am very congested. I usually get this way in the fall when the weather starts to change. It took a lot longer to come in this time. I did make it to work yesterday and today. I just have to get through the rest of today and tomorrow and then I'll have a nice long weekend. I've promised to go see Mum and Grandmother on Saturday and Sunday, but I'm taking Friday and Monday for myself. I don't know what I'll do, but I will do it at home! :-)
I've been taking a few pictures with my new camera. I have to learn how to download them before I can start posting pictures. I'm going to try to get one tonight of my tree so I can see the difference between what I've been using and what I have now.
Tonight is a get together for a book discussion group I'm joining. I feel like crap and I don't particularly wish to share my germs, but I really want to go. So, I'm going. I need to pick up some stuff from the shop anyway.
Last night I watched a marathon of The Dog Whisperer. It is so cool the way Cesar knows how to help the owners with their dogs. I'm thinking of writing to him to see if he can help me. I should probably read his book first. :-)
Well, I'm signing off now. I think we are getting ready to watch a movie at work and I'm wanting to see it. :-) Oh, speaking of movies...here's a tip...don't bother with The Wicker Man...it was horrible!

Happy Yule and Blog-versary...
Happy Belated Yule to everyone! I hope that all my witchy friends have had a great holiday. I didn't have time to get online and say hello, but I hope it was great for you and yours. And to anyone reading that isn't of the witchy/pagan variety, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and so forth and so on. :-)
Well, in our family we had "christmas" early this year. We had our big family celebration on Saturday and then a smaller one this evening with just my mum, sil and brother. Yesterday I was only allowed to open one present and it was the Sony DSC-H2 that I've been wanting! Woo Hoo!
Tonight I got, a carrying case for the camera and a 1gb memory stick for it. I also got a purple sweater, a green and white sweater and a pair of black jeans, a bottle of my favorite perfume (Euphoria by Calvin Klein), some wooden spoons for the kitchen, a cute spoon rest for the top of the stove, a really cute little jar for lemonade ( I love lemonade), lots of money and a speaker set for my mp3 player. I think there were some other things, but I just can't remember what they are right now.
Anyway, since I haven't been online the past few days, I also missed my blog-versary. On the 22nd it was 1 year since I started the blog. It has been an interesting year and I feel like I've met some nice people. Thanks to you all for making me feel welcome in the blogging world.
I'm off now to finish watching "The Family Stone." I've seen it before it before, but it is very good. I'm going to probably go to bed as soon as it is over. I'm pretty tired from all the running I've been doing.
Hopefully things will slow down a little now and I'll get to post more often.
Blessings,

This doesn't feel like Yule...
It has just been so hot here that I can't believe it is actually time for Yule. I'm sorry, but it should be cold and snowy and well...COLD! I can't stand hot weather and having it year round is just not good for me. :-)
Anyway, the marathon shopping continues as I'm having a very hard time picking out presents for several family members this year. I just don't know what to get people. I hardly ever have this much trouble.
Here is a picture of my Yule tree. It isn't that great of a picture but I hope that I will soon be able to post GOOD photos of things. Yay!
It is bright and shiny and has lots of presents under it. If you look closely at the box on the bottom right of the picture, you might can see a little kittie butt sticking out. That is my boy kittie and he for some reason loves to sit on top of my mum's xmas present. He also loves to sit under the tree right up against the tree stand.
Today I hope to finish my shopping. Tomorrow I will probably go to the hospital to see my friend and her new baby. Baby is arriving today, in fact they are in delivery right now, and I can't wait to meet her. Tomorrow is also our last workday and we will be allowed to leave early. Yay! Friday is cooking day in preparation for Saturday's feast. Sunday will be a small family gathering and then Monday will be spent with my mum and Grandmother. Somewhere in there I'm supposed to visit with my Dad and Stepmum, but I haven't been informed as to when we are getting together. Then Tuesday it is back to work...bleh. At least it should be quiet at work. I'll work three days and have another long weekend and then it will be back to normal.
Well, I'd best go and get some work done. Maybe another post tomorrow...we shall see.
Blessings,

Lookie what I'm getting!!
Okay, so I already know what I'm getting for Christmas. I always know anyway. I just wish I could have it now! It should be here in a few days, or rather at my mum's. I'm so happy! Finally a way to get good pictures! Click here and you can see what I'm getting and what my Mum got a steal on!
Anyway, work has been crazy this week. I've been so exausted that I haven't had the energy to do much of anything. I basically just come home and then fall asleep in the chair. I haven't accomplished anything at all this week. Hopefully that will change. I'm getting so busy too. I don't know how I'm going to get everything done. I've barely started shopping. I finally have my tree up and decorated. I will take a pic after the holidays before I take it down.
Oh, and Way to go STEELERS! They had a great game last night and Big Willie Parker had a terrific night! YAY!
Okay, I'm going now. Oh...before I forget, there is a great article about magical knitting that I really enjoyed and think any witch knitter should read. Check out Blogickal for the post and enjoy!
Blessings

Stuff on my mind...
It is so cold outside! I love it! I went out this morning to get my tree stand out of the shed and couldn't believe how cold it was. It feels so good. I never could find my tree stand. I have about decided to forego the whole decorating thing. I'm so not feeling the spirit right now.
Over the weekend I helped my mum and grandmother get ready with there decorations and had really become excited about decorating. And then yesterday I awoke with a migraine and serious sinus issues. Today I have a sore throat to add to the mix. I think I'm getting very sick. I really feel lousy.
I was able to get two mini wreaths done last night. That was all I had the energy to complete. I have to start working on them right after the new moon comes so that I'm not so trapped for time when I finish them. These two will just have to do until next new moon. I'll get started earlier next time.
I have been having really bad luck with presents for my friends and family. I had ordered several things for several members of my family that were just perfect, but they went into backorder status and are just now shipping to me. I have to send them out again once I get them to get the present completed, but I just will not have time now. I'll have to use them as birthday presents or save them until next year for holiday presents. I was able to get my mum something, but she was in the store when I got it and I'm afraid she saw it and won't be surprised. I need to get to serious work on my Grandmothers scarf if I'm going to give it to her for yule. I don't know what else to do for her so this will have to be it.
It seems like this month is the busiest time for me. I have at least two things scheduled each week until just after yule and then nothing. Oh, except, in January, I'll be taking Knitting classes!!! I'm so excited! The lady called me on Friday to see if I was still interested. It is a beginners knitting class and it starts in January and goes for 8 weeks. Yay!!
Anywho, I've got to make a list of who I want to get presents for and what I want to get them. I had planned to limit it to just family, but one of my friends, whose daughters are like my children, wants to get together, so I'll need to get gifts for the girls and her and her husband. Then there is my friend who asked me to be more involved with their family, "We make our own families" she said, and I'm am now the goddess mother to her children. (We liked it better than godmother) :-)
So, lists to make, things to decide, work to do, laundry to wash, house to clean, it never ends...

MeMe time...
I thought I would do a MeMe today. I don't have much else to say. I must confess, I stole this from Lana. I thought it was pretty cute. So, here goes...
Holiday MeMe
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Both!
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree?
Santa doesn't come to my house.
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
White lights on tree.
4. Do you hang Mistletoe?
If I can find any.
5. When do you put up your decorations?
Depends on my mood.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish?
Standing Rib Roast.
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
Spending x-mas eve with paternal side of family, then driving in middle of night 4 hours to see maternal side of family. We would listen to the Santa sightings on the way and when we got there my grandparents would cover our eyes and walk us to bed so that we didn't see what was under the tree. :-)
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
What truth? Are you talking about the rumor that Santa isn't real? They say that about the Tooth Fairy too, but we know they are both real!
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Not usually.
10. What kind of decorations are on your Christmas tree?
It's not up yet. But it will have gold and red beads, and different kinds of balls and stuff.
11. Snow! Love it or dread it?
Are you kidding? LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!
12. Can you ice skate?
um..No.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
a bicycle
14. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Family
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Pumpkin Pie w/whipped topping.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
When I was little, on my paternal side, each x-mas eve one of us grandkids would read the "Christmas Story" aloud. I think I was the last one to read it before my grandmother passed and the tradition ended. I never believed the story. I just liked that we were all quiet and together.
17. What tops your tree?
Two gold bows with long ribbons trailing down the tree.
18. What is your favorite holiday book?
"How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
19. What is your favorite holiday song?
Winter Wonderland
20. Candy canes! Yuck or yummy?
Yummy! Especially dipped in Hot chocolate! :-)
Blessings,
