Today is a new one for me. Thanksgiving is here and I am at home, all by myself, enjoying the fire, and season 1 of the Gilmore Girls. We aren't having our family gathering until Saturday so I get to enjoy two days of no work. Yay!
If you celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you have a great day. If Thanksgiving is not on your list of holidays, I hope you have a great Thursday!

Blessed Ostara
Happy Spring to everyone! I can't believe it is here already. I'm still wishing for another burst of winter (I just want a really good snowfall to wipe out all the germs and bugs) but I'm also ready for spring. I am looking forward to working in the garden but I haven't even begun to think about what to plant. Any suggestions?
Have a great day!

Whirlwind and knitting

This week has been an absolute whirlwind of activity. On Halloween, we had a party at work and I was part of the "entertainment". I was to be the "gypsy fortune teller". I did tarot readings from 8:30am until after 1:15pm. I was shocked at how many people wanted readings. I was also kind of surprised at how accurate most everyone said I was. I know I shouldn't doubt my abilities, but it has been ages since I have done readings.
Anyway, the most disturbing reading I gave was for someone who has been referred to on this blog before as T for trouble. I hate seeing myself in a reading. Ugh... I tried to explain what I saw, but I don't think T took it seriously. I hope he did otherwise things could be grim for him.
Okay, so now to the rest of the whirlwind, I have spent almost every waking moment knitting on the baby sweater for my s-i-l's sis. I was doing really well until I finished the second sleeve on Friday night and discovered when I held it up that the sleeve was in the middle of the back. Duh! I had to pull it out and then start that part over again. I did get it finished 15 minutes before I was to give it to her. Here it is:

I'm really pleased with how it turned out and with how I did in fixing my mistakes on my own. Most important the mom to be loved it. :-)
Yesterday, I took a ride up the mountain to look at a house that I am interested in. In this post I wrote about needing to find a new dream. Well, I may have found it. The home I am looking at is 1 hour and 30 minutes from my job. That is the only negative thing about this property. The house was built in 1828 and sits in the middle of 68 acres of land, most of it wooded. There is also a nice stream that runs through the property and it has a great old barn and a nice sized workshop that is relatively new and wired. I am really crazy about this property. It is exactly what I have wanted for more years that I can count.
The price is a little more than I'm comfortable with but I think it is doable. I just don't know who long I can drive 3 hours a day to work. If I decide to buy this property, it would be a serious life change. I know it is where I should be. Even before going to see it, I did a working on the night of the full moon to start the process flowing. I admit, I am a little scared. It would be such a change. I would be very much on my own. I'm so used to having my family close by and not having to take care of everything on my own. But it really is something I want.
I know, I've started rambling. I think I'm trying to work this out in my head, by writing here. Well, I'm going to stop writing about it and just leave it at this. I'm going to meditate on it and also ask my guardians to help me decide what to do. I'm sure I'll post about it again.
Well, I'm off to relax. My whole body needs to stretch and relax from all the tension in getting that sweater finished. Hmmm, I wonder what is on the TV tonight.
Blessings,

Knitting like mad
I wish I had a picture. I'm at work and I've stopped copying my pictures to my laptop, so no picture. Last night I knit for three hours. I had to start the baby raglan again! I had found a yarn over that wasn't intended and couldn't figure out how to get back so I just ripped it and started fresh. I sure hope I'll get done before 2:30pm on Sunday.
Tomorrow is our Halloween Carnival at work. I am the entertainer for the event, the "fortune teller". I'll be doing mini readings (past, present and future). I'm a little nervous about reading for my co-workers, there are some I don't want to know anything about, if ya know what I mean.
Well, I'd best get back to work. Less than an hour left and then knitting class tonight. I still have to select my outfit for tomorrow and also pick out my pumpkin designs.
Maybe tomorrow I can post knitting pictures and pumpkin pictures.

This doesn't feel like Yule...
It has just been so hot here that I can't believe it is actually time for Yule. I'm sorry, but it should be cold and snowy and well...COLD! I can't stand hot weather and having it year round is just not good for me. :-)
Anyway, the marathon shopping continues as I'm having a very hard time picking out presents for several family members this year. I just don't know what to get people. I hardly ever have this much trouble.

Here is a picture of my Yule tree. It isn't that great of a picture but I hope that I will soon be able to post GOOD photos of things. Yay!
It is bright and shiny and has lots of presents under it. If you look closely at the box on the bottom right of the picture, you might can see a little kittie butt sticking out. That is my boy kittie and he for some reason loves to sit on top of my mum's xmas present. He also loves to sit under the tree right up against the tree stand.
Today I hope to finish my shopping. Tomorrow I will probably go to the hospital to see my friend and her new baby. Baby is arriving today, in fact they are in delivery right now, and I can't wait to meet her. Tomorrow is also our last workday and we will be allowed to leave early. Yay! Friday is cooking day in preparation for Saturday's feast. Sunday will be a small family gathering and then Monday will be spent with my mum and Grandmother. Somewhere in there I'm supposed to visit with my Dad and Stepmum, but I haven't been informed as to when we are getting together. Then Tuesday it is back to work...bleh. At least it should be quiet at work. I'll work three days and have another long weekend and then it will be back to normal.
Well, I'd best go and get some work done. Maybe another post tomorrow...we shall see.

Lookie what I'm getting!!
Okay, so I already know what I'm getting for Christmas. I always know anyway. I just wish I could have it now! It should be here in a few days, or rather at my mum's. I'm so happy! Finally a way to get good pictures! Click here and you can see what I'm getting and what my Mum got a steal on!
Anyway, work has been crazy this week. I've been so exausted that I haven't had the energy to do much of anything. I basically just come home and then fall asleep in the chair. I haven't accomplished anything at all this week. Hopefully that will change. I'm getting so busy too. I don't know how I'm going to get everything done. I've barely started shopping. I finally have my tree up and decorated. I will take a pic after the holidays before I take it down.
Oh, and Way to go STEELERS! They had a great game last night and Big Willie Parker had a terrific night! YAY!
Okay, I'm going now. Oh...before I forget, there is a great article about magical knitting that I really enjoyed and think any witch knitter should read. Check out Blogickal for the post and enjoy!
Blessings

MeMe time...
I thought I would do a MeMe today. I don't have much else to say. I must confess, I stole this from Lana. I thought it was pretty cute. So, here goes...
Holiday MeMe
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Both!
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree?
Santa doesn't come to my house.
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
White lights on tree.
4. Do you hang Mistletoe?
If I can find any.
5. When do you put up your decorations?
Depends on my mood.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish?
Standing Rib Roast.
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
Spending x-mas eve with paternal side of family, then driving in middle of night 4 hours to see maternal side of family. We would listen to the Santa sightings on the way and when we got there my grandparents would cover our eyes and walk us to bed so that we didn't see what was under the tree. :-)
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
What truth? Are you talking about the rumor that Santa isn't real? They say that about the Tooth Fairy too, but we know they are both real!
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Not usually.
10. What kind of decorations are on your Christmas tree?
It's not up yet. But it will have gold and red beads, and different kinds of balls and stuff.
11. Snow! Love it or dread it?
Are you kidding? LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!
12. Can you ice skate?
um..No.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
a bicycle
14. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Family
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Pumpkin Pie w/whipped topping.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
When I was little, on my paternal side, each x-mas eve one of us grandkids would read the "Christmas Story" aloud. I think I was the last one to read it before my grandmother passed and the tradition ended. I never believed the story. I just liked that we were all quiet and together.
17. What tops your tree?
Two gold bows with long ribbons trailing down the tree.
18. What is your favorite holiday book?
"How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
19. What is your favorite holiday song?
Winter Wonderland
20. Candy canes! Yuck or yummy?
Yummy! Especially dipped in Hot chocolate! :-)
Blessings,

Halfway to Friday...
It is almost weekend time again. Last weekend was so busy, even for a long weekend, that I felt like I never had a break. So I am really looking forward to this weekend. I don't know as it will be a calm weekend, but it can't possibly be as busy as the last one.
I hope everyone had a good thanksgiving weekend. I've been reading the blogs and catching up and it sounds like it was good. I usually put my yule decorations out right after thanksgiving so that I can enjoy them for a good while, however...the temps here have been in the 70's all week and that is just ridiculous! I can't stand it! It is two days before december and it is 70? WTF?
Needless to say, with all the heat, I'm just not into the whole holiday spirit. Nary a decoration has been set up at my home and I'm seriously contenplating not putting any up at all. :-(
No knitting has been accomplished but I did see a few movies. Nothing worth mentioning here though. Today is soup day for lunch...bleh. I really want something good, but must keep control of the finances.
Alright, I'm going to get some work done now.
